PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds’ launch on Xbox One wasn’t the smashing success that many hoped it would be. Granted, the game is still in preview on the console, but it is also noticeably rougher than its PC counterpart, even on the powerhouse that is the Xbox One X. A new patch is out now that will hopefully alleviate a lot of these problems.

As outlined on the PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds forums, the majority of the changes simply improve optimization and make the game run a little smoother on Microsoft’s boxes. The most notable fix, though, is the reduction of recoil, which will hopefully make the shooting mechanics more manageable.

A variety of bugs will also be addressed, causing the title to crash less. The patch is welcomed with open arms and hopefully, the developers will continue to improve upon the game as rapidly as they are.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds

The original version of PUBG released earlier this year on PC and immediately garnered attention and acclaim. The premise is simple, 100 players parachute onto an island littered with guns, vehicles, and other machinations of destruction. The 100 combatants hunt each other down, all the while outrunning a blue energy wall that threatens to kill any stragglers that can’t stay in the shrinking arena. It’s a unique combination of a survival game and a multiplayer shooter. Not only are the scope and size unprecedented, but they actually work.

The PC version recently added a second map and vaulting, which was a long-requested feature. The game recently exited early access, but there is still a lot of content to delve into. The title is far from finished, and the Xbox version has a very good base to learn from. Still, the console version has a lot of growing to do and is already on the path to greatness.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is available now on PC and Xbox One.
