Florida Mom Shocked When Advertised Aquarium Isn’t What It Promised to Be, ‘Could’ve Just Gone to the Pet Store Instead’

That has to be illegal, right?

Many parents are always on the lookout for fun things to do with their children on a budget. Unfortunately, some of these outings are going to be a bust. This is what a Florida mother found out when she decided that she was going to load up her kids and go out for a fun day at a local aquarium she had apparently never visited in the past. She, and her children, were definitely in for a surprise when they arrived.

Kaurie (@thekaurieraye on TikTok) captioned her hilarious video, “Definitely not what me or the kids expected but hey, it was something to do.” The video shows a timeline of her packing up her kids and walking them into a store located in a strip mall named Diamonds by Raymond Lee. When she enters, she clearly isn’t sure what to think, as she was expecting there to be an aquarium. Instead, she and her children are greeted with several small fish tanks (and one larger one complete with small sharks, but definitely nowhere near as exciting as an actual aquarium). At one point, the video pans to one of her children sitting on a chair, looking pretty bored.

As it turns out, there is an actual listing for a place called the Boca Aquarium but the address takes you right to this jewelry store. In other words, they try to lure in customers by acting there’s a real aquarium in their store. The Boca Raton, Florida store even has its own TikTok named the Boca Aquarium where they post handfuls of fish-related videos. Who wouldn’t go there expecting a fun day out, only to find real disappointment?

The replied to Kaurie’s video were ones of hilarity and disbelief. One person joked, “Damn, could’ve just gone to the pet store instead.” Others pointed out how amusing it was that Kaurie came prepared with an entire backpack for an exciting day out with her kids, only to end up conned by a jewelry store. One commenter said in mock disgust, “Lololol. Imagine driving 30+ mins to take the kids out for the day and pulling up to that! Lol. They would’ve been giving me some gas money.”

A further look at Google reviews show that people actually leave reviews for the “aquarium” as if it were more than just a fancy jewelry store. It is possible that the jewelry store is simply paying for those reviews. It’s just one more fine example of an establishment that is perfectly fine with conning customers through their false marketing. They definitely deserve the shame that the internet has been giving them.
