While there is much to be said about the extremists or violent rioters opposing ICE, let’s not forget about the ones supporting them — Trump and his MAGA followers. Many Trump supporters and ICE sympathizers claim to be Christian. However, a doubtful North Carolina mother and social media influencer Jen Hamilton decided to put their faith to the test by challenging them with verses from the Holy Bible. It turns out these so-called and self-proclaimed MAGA Christians act like anything but, as they allegedly sent her death threats and attempted to get her fired from being a registered nurse.
Reading from the book of Matthew Chapter 25, Hamilton read aloud the verses that talked about how Christians are supposed to treat each other. While reading each verse, she highlighted the contradictions in Trump’s actions and those of his supporters in tandem. Needless to say, the MAGA ‘Christians’ are certainly not acting like ones, at least, not according to the Bible. Hamilton also covered the verses that discussed how the wicked will be punished with eternal damnation. “I don’t know, sounds pretty liberal,” she remarked sarcastically. The final portion of the clip showed a quote from one Reverand Benjamin Cremer:
“Beware of any Christian movement that demands the government be an instrument of God’s wrath but never a source of God’s mercy, generosity, or compassion.”
“She received death threats and people tried to get her fired/have her nursing license taken away for posting this,” a Reddit user notes. “Deep down, they know she’s right. And it makes them mad,” another adds.”No greater hate than Christian love,” a third quips. “How very Christian of them. If only someone had just read them the words of Jesus,” joked a fourth. One user had a solid description just how unreasonable Trump supporters are:
“So infuriating how evil this group of everyday people has become. They spent their whole lives pretending to be Christians just to prove when push came to shove that they learned absolutely nothing, and THEY ARE indeed the very people Jesus used as an example of who should go straight to hell. They go cherrypick obscure sections of the Old Testament to prop up their bigotry but lose their minds when you LITERALLY QUOTE JESUS TO THEM.”
The reaction from MAGA supporters when Trump is criticized really shows what kind of people they are — hypocrites and bigots. Of course, there are doubtless many Christian Republicans out there, but Hamilton sure did an excellent job exposing who the bad ones.
