The war against ICE has only just started, and the government is fighting back harder than ever before as a result. It isn’t uncommon to see video after video of people being detained or simply ripped from their homes on the suspicion of being undocumented immigrants. In some cases, agents will go into establishments and businesses to do their job. Fortunately, when a group of agents attempted to do just that at a car wash in Artesia, California, customers and employees were there to tell them to leave.
A video depicts masked ICE agents approaching a Big Penny Car Wash in Artesia, California. The agents quite literally walked up to the individual car wash spots and started looking for someone to arrest. What’s worse is that the person recording made note that absolutely none of the cars they arrived in were marked. It is also interesting that none of them seems to be very interested in showing their faces or providing identification.
“These guys just seem like goon squads wandering and driving around aimlessly until they see someone with a certain skin tone.”
Suddenly, customers from inside the car wash begin ganging up on the officers, taking out their phones and intimidating them. Of course, since they had no basis for being there, they simply walked back to their cars with their heads hung in shame. They didn’t even attempt to make an arrest or use any kind of force. They realized there were outnumbered and decided to leave before things escalated.
While this story ended on a happy note, most stories involving ICE do not. Typically, ICE agents will target those who cannot fend for themselves or are vulnerable in some way. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like the hatred and fear will be stopping so long as our administration stays the way it is.
