The state of the current political administration and how its treated minorities has become more and more apparent since January. Now, there are more and more reports than ever of ICE agents throwing those whom they believe to be undocumented immigrants into unmarked cars and taking them away. More specifically, there have been reports of masked men wearing Border Patrol vests walking into random places and detaining just about anyone. Just recently, a car in Torrance, California, was hit, with both customers and employees standing their ground.
The shocking Reddit video showcases several uniformed personnel walking toward a Bubble Bath Car Wash in Torrance, California. Shortly after they arrive, they immediately get aggressive and start to detain random people. Before long, you can see that other employees and customers started to interfere, with one man really giving the masked men a piece of his mind.
What’s really terrifying is that nothing about how they’re dressed or present themselves screams authoritative. If anything, it seems like they’re a random group of goons trying to act as vigilantes of some kind and round up as many undocumented people as they can find at a car wash. It’s also very weird that they’re carrying around cameras and seemingly recording the entire situation.
One person even commented, saying, “Why is ICE walking around with professional cameras? Are they filming something for Dr Phil or propaganda?” Honestly, I agree with him. Why would they need to record any of it with professional equipment? If they just wanted to get the faces of those that they believe to be undocumented, they could have just used their phones or their body cameras.
We live in a turbulent and frightening time, with many people actively working to oppress minorities across the country. I hope that those currently detained can be held for long enough for this situation to improve, allowing them to return to their families.
