It’s been a tumultuous time for those who are not native to the United States. Each day, more people seem to fear being kidnapped by random masked men. Recently, one woman was rescued by her community after being approached by masked individuals in unmarked cars with Illinois license plates. It’s chilling to think about what could have happened to her if the community hadn’t intervened, especially in light of the horrific cases of those who have already been kidnapped.
Inย a surprising video, masked ICE agents are seen being confronted verbally by several citizens who are protecting a Spanish-speaking individual. At the beginning of the video, the woman recording asks the masked agents for their identification, which they refuse to provide. This refusal angers the agents, who then call in backup. More agents arrive in vans marked with Illinois license plates.
This situation began when masked men asked a Spanish-speaking woman if she was a U.S. citizen. Instead of proving they were actually deputized by the government, the men escalated the confrontation, attempting to intimidate the women with their aggressive behavior and large guns. Personally, I would have been terrified, but the woman recording the incident stood her ground and was committed to ensuring the safety of her community.
It’s incredibly alarming to watch the video again and take note of the masked men’s behaviors. In fact, commenters also made note of this, with one person even saying, “That officer looks so insecure with one hand on his pistol and other fidgeting with his radio. This dude is not trained to handle a pair of scissors. These dudes are a danger to the public”
It’s terrifying to think that people need to worry about the people who are here to supposedly help us. What’s even worse is no longer being able to tell who is actually an authoritative figure and who is a thug who just wants to get rid of undocumented citizens in any way they can.
