Indiana Driver Appeals Against Wrongful Parking Ticket with Photo Evidence But Was Denied: ‘Someone Actually Looked at the Photos and Still Wrote All That Bulls***’

What a hassle…

It’s normal for people to make mistakes, but things can become mildly infuriating if they refuse to acknowledge their errors, even when clear evidence is laid out in front of them. A driver in Indiana had parked their car near their workplace but came out to discover that they had received a parking ticket. They had paid for their parking in full, but the ticket claimed their car took up in two spots. However, it’s clear from the photos the driver took that the vehicle is within the white lines of the parking spot. It’s just the meter’s position that’s somewhat off.

After filing a claim to appeal the parking ticket, the Indiana driver received a message saying that their parking citation was “thoroughly reviewed.” Yet, the request was denied because the “vehicle was parked in a way that it occupied two spaces.” It would appear someone has vision problems here, and it doesn’t seem to be the driver. “Am I wrong in assuming the painted lines take precedence over the meter position?” the car owner asks Reddit.

Wrongfully ticketed, appeal denied.

It appears that most Redditors couldn’t explain why the driver should receive the ticket either, as the top comments are either criticism of the city official’s reply or simply humorous. “They, in fact, have not reviewed the citation,” remarked an individual. “‘Thoroughly’ at that,” OP responded sarcastically. “Must’ve gotten hold of the AI/LLMs that UHC insurance uses to deny claims — fascinating someone actually looked at the photos and still wrote all that bulls**t,” a second added.

The person continued to slam the Indiana worker who denied the appeal request: “I bet they’re miserable in real life, toxic people spew venom and anger and frustration to others so they suffer too. OP you should also request that the city reviews and audits all the *other^ parking citations and appeals written by that specific person,” they suggest. Several thousand Redditors upvote a comment in agreement: “Please fight this. For all of us.”

Unfortunately, OP claims that the whole idea of showing up in person to contest the ticket isn’t worth the hassle, as they have an upcoming vacation planned soon.
