As Trump’s anti-immigration agenda continues, it’s fair to say that tensions between citizens in the US are reaching a boiling point. After all, not only has racism and discrimination seen a resurgence lately, but according to recent data, Trump has reportedly made race relations worse. In the state of New York recently, a woman was captured having a racist meltdown at the checkout in a Price Rite supermarket. While her words were full of hate, the manager and security guard who dealt with the situation handled it professionally.
The two-minute video takes place at the checkout of Price Rite, and sees a middle-aged White woman in a black t-shirt, blue jeans, and grey backpack as she packs her shopping. For some reason, she’s going off on a bizarre racist tirade, though the buildup is a little unclear. The beginning of the footage is taken from a later part of the incident, and showcases the woman’s awful attitude.
As a Black security guard helps the woman pack her shopping, she rudely shouts, “Nobody would let their kid date a brown dude. No self respecting White man would let their kid date a brown man.” In the background, the person recording the clip can be heard sounding exasperated and shocked at the racist woman’s hateful diatribe, “Oh my god.“
The clip then segues to an earlier part of the incident, as she starts packing her bags. Some of her expletives are bleeped out, but it sounds like she says something like, “You in-bred f*cks! Disgusting.” Other onlookers seem to be laughing out of sheer embarrassment for the woman. She then starts taking aim at Muslims, for some odd reason, and then starts mockingly speaking in a faux foreign accent. “Yeah, the muslims are gonna really take good care of you.” she says sarcastically. The manager then retorts, “I’ve got a problem now. You can go pack your stuff outside.”
The xenophobic woman attempts to save face, by claiming that the store employees have been heckling her. “Can your employees stop heckling me?” she fires at the manager. “Maybe you should stop from screaming at people and doing the same thing?” he calmly responds. She then claims that the employees have been unprofessional, but clearly — from the footage — they’ve been handling her hateful proclamations in a respectful way.
She states, “Can your employees stop heckling me and act more professionally and not like brown people.” In shock, the manager asks her incredulously, “Like who? Like what people?” To this, she replies angrily with, “You know what the f*ck I’m talking about.”
After some further back and forth, the woman fires, “Open your f*cking eyes, Mohammad.” at the manager, which is the final straw. “Can you get her out of my store. And she’s banned, period.” Things get a little more personal when the manager declares, “My daughter dates a Muslim man and I have a huge problem with what you said.” With tensions intensifying, the woman yells, “No wonder! You f*cking hate White people. You were molested as a kid. You hate White people.” As the video comes to an end, the Black security guard escorts the woman off the premises, while she continues to yell racist rhetoric.
As social media users continue to pore over the clip, the majority championed the professionalism of the security guard and the manager, while slamming the racist woman at the heart of the drama. Over on Reddit, one user wrote, “Props to that manager, he is f*cking awesome and f*ck that sad pathetic racist piece of sh*t woman.” Elsewhere, another commenter declared, “She will go home. Tell the truth and everyone in her life will say she is brave. That’s the world we live in now” while another joked, “She’ll be invited to the White House soon.” Other reactions flooded in, with a fourth penning, “Must be exhausting living with so much hate.” and a fifth simply stating, “she’s repugnant“.
