However, this Texas man has seemingly found an “Epic” way to deal with all the theft.
Thanks to the now-viral TikTok posted by the Texas native, viewers can see the plan and its execution. The video is from the Ring camera’s footage, which shows multiple instances of a box being stolen from the Texas man’s porch. The TikTok was posted by an account called Junior (juniior2323). However, Junior had a secret surprise for those unlucky enough to pick his boxes to steal.
Texas Man Fills a Box With Cat Poop To Catch Porch Pirates
The caption and the TikTok itself confirm that Junior had used his cat litter scooper to clean his feline friend’s litterbox right into an empty package. That package would then be strategically placed on the Texas man’s porch. The plan is for the porch pirates to steal the decoy box. That way when they open it, expecting something nice from Amazon, it’s just cat poop. Junior had even thanked the criminals for taking the box off his hands in the caption. “Thanks for taking my cat poop,” wrote Junior.
The ability to buy something from the internet and have it shipped to your house has most of the world in a stranglehold. An estimated 22 billion packages are delivered every year in the United States. However, despite the booming business, around $12 million of merchandise is stolen by Porch pirates. While this is not an issue for all consumers, those living in more populated areas have experienced a rise in this type of crime, especially around the holiday season.
Junior’s viral TikTok has shed an even brighter light on these criminals. However, those online don’t want the Texas man to stop making this type of content. “This is genius,” one commenter wrote on the video. Another had asked Junior to “Make this a series.” It will be interesting to see if this does become a TikTok series. How many people could they catch, and what kind of things could Junior hide in those packages? It seems only time will tell for now.
