A dramatic standoff occurred aboard a city bus in Los Angeles recently, when a hooded man wielding a set of bolt cutters was captured on camera threatening and intimidating a passenger. The tense altercation is making the rounds at the moment, and while things do get quite heated, no one was thankfully hurt during the commotion.
Sporting a grey ‘Newport Beach’ hoodie, black pants, and wielding a large pair of bolt cutters, the irate man can be seen drooling at the beginning of the clip. The seated passenger who the angry guy has a problem with can be heard saying, “You’re in my ear. Get off the bus.” though it’s unclear what specifically sparked the confrontation. The furious bolt cutter-wielding man keeps angrily repeating the words, “Bitch, a*s up, n*gger!”
What makes the tense altercation hair-raising is the fact that the unhinged man then begins to threaten to hit the other passenger with his bolt cutters, as he attempts to swing the dangerous tool in the direction of the seated passenger. He even lunges forward a couple of times with the bolt cutters raised in his hands in a bid to scare the passenger into thinking he’s going to strike.
Fortunately, the seated passenger plays it cool, as he not only doesn’t flinch at the weapon being swung in front of him, but he even gives some lighthearted commentary as the wild confrontation unfolds. With a light chuckle, the passenger states, “That’s what you say. Get the f*ck off the bus. They always do that right at the end.” While the man continues his unhinged meltdown, the woman recording the footage can even be heard dismissively saying, “Anyways, you’re gonna miss your stop. We got a problem on aisle seven.”
While the clip continues to spread across the internet, social media users took to the comments section to give their read on the situation. Over on Instagram, one netizen penned, “๐ฎHe Drooled Like A Great Dane๐” while another was under the assumption that the guy may’ve been a drug addict, writing, “You canโt win against a person of Meth, you can tell how his teeth is ate up.” Elsewhere, some commenters took issue with the fact another media outlet claimed that the man was a “Newport Beach resident” because of his hoodie, declaring, “That man DEFINITELY isnโt from Newport Beach“. A fourth comment stated an obvious question that simply read, “Why does he even have bolt cutters????“
As the footage continues to proliferate, it’s a timely reminder that playing it cool in the face of threats and harassment — and not reacting violently — can prove to be an effective recourse in defusing situations like this.
