Despite the detention center, Alligator Alcatraz, being controversial for its inhumane treatment of migrants, the Butler County Sheriff’s office in Ohio chose to mimic the concentration camp in a recent display. The department placed fake crocodiles outside its building, referencing the concentration camp’s proximity to alligators.
The Sheriff’s office showcased the mimicry in a post on their official Facebook page. The photo featured the exterior of the correctional facility with a pond in front, filled with inflatable, scary-looking crocodile replicas.
In the accompanying caption to the post, the department joked that the display resembled Florida’s controversial detention center.
The caption read, “Florida has Alligator Alcatraz!! We have the Butler County Crocs!! Known as the Inflatable Intimidators, these Recon Reptiles will be standing guard outside our corrections facility!! Our Croc Commandos are always on duty to guard the Yard!! They’re fake but fierce!! (Well, Kinda)”
The concluding part of the caption detailed other ways the crocodiles could best serve the facility. It read, “Rest assured, if these Crocs get out of line, the Sheriff will turn them into boots and maybe a belt, for special occasions.”
The post was met with angry social media users who slammed the office for being insensitive and mocking victims of the Florida migrant camp. One online critic wrote, “You’re right, people’s suffering is hilarious!”
A second user called out the office for being insensitive, writing, “This is 100% tone deaf. What a bunch of a**ho***.” A third critic blasted the town for spending their resources on the wrong thing. The critic lashed, “Shame, it looks like Butler County spent more on those inflatable alligators than they do on education.”
A fourth condemning comment read, “It’s the callousness that is hard to watch. Laughing at human misery and boasting about it is the lowest of the low.”
It appears that the Alcatraz Alligator is now an object of mockery for MAGA supporters. Recently, a MAGA couple was spotted taking their son on an outing to the concentration camp. As The Nerd Stash reported, a passerby filmed the family having a photoshoot session in front of the facility.
While the dad surveyed the area, the mom is seen snapping their young boy standing in front of the blue signboard with the words “Alligator Alcatraz” boldly written on it.
The infamous migrant camp was established as part of Donald Trump’s brutal crackdown on immigration. Given its cage-like holding cells, hazardous environment, and poor living conditions, it is certainly not a concept to be taken lightly.
