When you go to a fast food restaurant, you usually expect a quick, impersonal exchange with an underpaid worker before walking away with your unhealthy meal of the day. What you probably don’t expect is an unexpected dose of religion handed to you along with your fries. But according to one Reddit user, that’s exactly what happened during a recent visit to In-N-Out. Redditor mugglebornalways shared their story in a post detailing a strange experience their partner had at an In-N-Out location in San Diego, California. Their partner had stopped by the Carmel Mountain spot when something unusual happened.

In N Out is praying for people now in the drive through lines?

The employee taking their order paused and prayed for them, right there in the drive-through. Then, when they pulled up to the next window to pay, a different employee asked, “Did anyone tell you yet today that Jesus loves you?” Their partner responded, “Yeah, that last guy did, and then he prayed for me?”

According to the post, both employees appeared to be pretty young, maybe in their early twenties. It’s widely known that In-N-Out is a Christian-owned company. Anyone who has glanced at the discreet Bible verses printed on their cups and wrappers would know that. Even so, the Redditor pointed out that in all their years of visiting the chain, they had never personally witnessed anything like this. Not only had it never happened to them before, but they had also never heard of anyone else talking about a similar encounter.

They made it clear they weren’t trying to criticize anyone’s beliefs, writing, “To clarify, I’m sure this is just the actions of the individual employees and not mandated by In-N-Out. I’m just saying it’s weird.”

The post quickly gained traction on Reddit, receiving over two thousand upvotes. Many commenters weighed in on the incident, with one user sharing that they had experienced the same thing. According to them, they had also visited the same In-N-Out in San Diego recently, and the cashier told them that Jesus loved them. The user wrote, “I pulled up to the drive-through to pay and he was like hey one more thing I have to tell you Jesus loves you… very weird and uncomfortable.”

Seeing the comment, mugglebornalways felt certain it was the same person who had approached their spouse. Others chimed in to say it wasn’t just that one employee, claiming that multiple staff members at the Carmel Mountain location had also been preaching to customers.
