With tension over immigration at an all-time high in America, ICE raids are only increasing in frequency. Unfortunately for many of us, we see the reality of the situation or agree that ICE should be abolished. Conservatives, and the MAGA movement as a whole, think otherwise. One California man on TikTok perfectly explains to us why MAGA is incredibly hypocritical. More importantly, understands MAGA’s obsession over immigration is simply racism.
Ian (@ianllightfoot on TikTok) shared his video, captioned “So what’s the new excuse…” He goes on to point out, “If you’re using undocumented people’s tax records to find them and kidnap them, then it was never about them not paying taxes. And if you’re showing up at their place of employment, then it was never about them not working.” He went on to say, “If you’re showing up at courthouses, then it was never about getting them to do it the ‘right way.’” Except immigrants at courthouses are usually doing it the “right way.”
Ian then hits us with a real truth bomb: “If you’re kidnapping women and children, it was never about the criminals. If you’re not giving them due process, it was never about the constitution. And if you’re spending billions of dollars to do it, it was never about the economy. And if you’re doing all of this in the name of a 34-time convicted felon, then it was never about following the law.” When Ian is done hitting us with this reality, he takes a bite of his licorice.
Setting aside the hypocrisy, it’s a shame this needs to be said, because Ian’s right. It was never about entering legally, crime, paying taxes, or taking jobs. Their words don’t match their actions, but once you know it’s simply racism, it makes sense.
Commenters were quick to agree with Ian’s truth. One person added, “Don’t forget They’re arresting people at their immigration appointment.” In the news, immigration attorneys have warned clients that there is a huge reality that you could be detained or even deported if you show up for a routine hearing because ICE has been raiding courtrooms in record numbers.
Another commenter said, “It’s racism. It’s about racism.” When you get down to the nails on this subject, some people are truly evil. If you’re loudly cheering for ICE, you’re on the wrong side of history, plain and simple.
