Another week, another Vault Hunter, and with Vex and Rafa already out there, it is time for another one to take the spotlight. Now, it is Amon’s turn to show us what he’s bringing to Borderlands 4, and by the looks of it, it is pure elemental mayhem. While Vex brought a playstyle that suits those who like to summon companions, and Rafa was all about speed and melee-focused attacks, Amon is all about freezing and scorching foes while also holding the frontlines with ease.
Borderlands 4 Unveils Amon’s Gameplay Trailer
The release date of Borderlands 4 is so close we can smell it, and to make the way shorter, or longer, Vault Hunters are getting a showcase each week, with Amon joining the fray today. Amon is all about combining offense and defense. For the former, he can use his Crucible weapon, which combines fire attacks with explosive ice axes. He can either reduce enemies to ashes or freeze them in place to then smash them into smithereens with a well-placed shot.
On top of that, we saw the Scourge weapon, which seems to send out ice shockwaves and even a throwable spear that shocks foes when hit. There also appears to be a long, summonable sword Amon can use, and a highly destructive one at that, as it seems to be able to stagger large enemies with ease. Furthermore, the gameplay trailer of Amon in Borderlands 4 also showcased the Onslaught fist, which burns enemies with a fiery punch. Lastly, it seems Amon can summon a shield at all times to protect himself from certain hits while also letting him approach enemies.
While all Vault Hunters have looked great, Amon could be the most beginner-friendly, especially for those who aren’t used to the chaos of a Borderlands game. Amon is great at going on the offensive, but also seems to have many defensive skills to last longer in a fight. If you enjoy a more “tanky” playstyle, this Forgesmith is the way to go.
Amon’s Character Short Should Be Coming Soon
If you didn’t know, Borderlands 4 tends to unveil the gameplay trailer for a Vault Hunter first, followed by a character short, such as the case with Rafa and Vex, and something that will likely happen with Amon, too.
These character shorts have been fantastic and are perfectly animated. But beyond that, they provide a lot of context and background details for the upcoming playable characters. Last week’s character short for Rafa was one of the greatest we’ve seen in any Borderlands game, and it just shows that Gearbox Software is looking to make Borderlands 4 the best entry in the series. Fortunately, the wait won’t be long now, as we’re just weeks away from diving into what promises to be the greatest looter shooter experience of this year.
