Doug Wilson, an Idaho-based right-wing pastor, proudly declared that society is theocratic and his goal is nothing less than turning America into a Christian nation.
And to achieve that big goal, one crucial step for him is making sure women know their “place.” He has even called for women to lose their right to vote, pushing to repeal the 19th Amendment that granted women suffrage. But don’t think this is the last you’ll hear about it.
This Idaho pastor is so backward he actually called slavery a biblical institution. Yet, somehow, despite all these outrageous claims, he insists he’s not a white nationalist, not a fascist, not racist, and not misogynistic. That’s quite the bold statement considering everything he’s said.
Sure, it’s tempting to just laugh and dismiss him as a clown. But it’s dangerously unwise not to take him seriously. For example, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is one of the people who subscribes to Wilson’s ideas. Even worse, this kind of thinking has been gaining serious momentum among MAGA supporters. And they’re not just a fringe group; they have real access to power, thanks to the Trump administration. So no, this isn’t something to brush off with a chuckle.
Many Reddit users were shocked, horrified, and disgusted when they heard what this Idaho pastor is trying to do to America. One Redditor even dubbed his group the “Christian Taliban.” Others pointed out that this is clear evidence that churches shouldn’t be exempt from taxes, given the massive influence they wield on politics and society.
