What should’ve been a normal day for many commuters in Naperville, Illinois, almost became a nightmare after a bus driver passed out while driving. Fortunately, a couple of citizens decided to stop their vehicles to help the bus operator and prevent an accident from happening. One of them managed to even hit the brakes of the colossal vehicle, stopping its movement on the spot and saving the day for all the passengers and even those outside of the bus.
Reddit user tristinbeyda shared their experience with the bus driver who had passed out. In the video, you can observe how they were on the road, minding their own business, when the bus started moving forward, despite the light being red. Instead of just standing around and observing without doing anything, the OP decided to pursue the large vehicle and move in front of it, hoping to stop it. When they realized something was wrong, they stepped out of the vehicle to hit the vehicle’s brakes.
I jumped out and my car reached through the driver side window of the bus and pulled the parking brake while the other person helped get the passenger doors opened.
The OP also mentioned that the bus driver regained consciousness after a while. Furthermore, the passengers suffered no harm during this incident.
As you can imagine, many people praised the heroic antics of the two individuals involved in stopping the bus driver who had passed out, mainly praising the one who pulled the brakes.
“Thank you for standing up and getting involved so fast. Might have saved lives.” Said one user.
“Great job to you and the other driver for taking action and not just being passive observers.” Commented another person.
Ultimately, the OP noted that the bus driver was able to exit the vehicle without assistance. However, emergency services arrived to check on him and other passengers. Fortunately, the bus didn’t damage any buildings, cars, or infrastructure in the street. Passenger, on the other hand, stepped out of the bus unscathed, and we have these two citizens to thank for it.
