San Francisco TikToker Blames Men for Gun Violence: ‘This Isn’t Talked About Enough’

Definitely Needs To Be Addressed

Usually, when the topic of gun violence comes up, the conversation circles around laws, whether that means stricter background checks, raising the age limit, or even banning certain firearms. However, one San Francisco woman said that framing misses the point. In her view, the issue isn’t just access to guns but the people behind the trigger, arguing that men are the common denominator in nearly every mass shooting.

“You know what? Since no one else wants to say it, I guess I will say it. We do not have a gun violence issue. No. We have a male gun violence issue in our country,” she began in a TikTok video. She continued that men should not be allowed to own firearms, describing what she sees as a mental health crisis among men that fuels violence in schools and communities.

She added that after the recent shooting in Minneapolis, she didn’t even need to check who the suspect was. “I already know who did it. It was a man. And you know what, when it happens again, cause nothing’s gonna change, I’ll still already know who did it. It will be a man,” she said. She ended her video by placing responsibility on men to hold each other accountable, insisting, “You are the violent criminals. I’m so sick of all of these excuses we make for men.”

Netizens React to San Francisco Woman’s Comments About Gun Violence

The comments were filled with very strong opinions. Many people supported her directly, with one writing, “I’ve been saying this for like 20 years.” Another person said, “Statistically speaking, you are correct. Math doesn’t lie.” Some shared how normalized male violence feels in daily news. “Every time we hear about it we all go, ‘did they get him?’ cause we KNOW without seeing the person that it’s a male!” one netizen remarked. A second added, “This isn’t talked about enough.”

Several pointed to culture and upbringing as key factors. “Boys glorify guns and then they grow up and can buy them at 18. Sometimes 16. Then they play very violent video games. All glorifying violence. And we wonder why we have a gun violence problem?” one commenter wrote. Another said plainly, “Patriarchy is the problem.”

Still, not everyone agreed with her framing. “I appreciate the sentiment because it is definitely warranted, but bio-essentialist arguments are never the way to go,” one user argued, saying strict gun bans for everyone would be more effective. Another noted, “Battle of the sexes is getting out of hand. Men and women just need to learn how to be friends with each other.”
