New York Man Caught on Camera Using Racial Slur, Claims He’s a Cop: ‘The License Plate Says It All’

“Boogey Man”

A shocking TikTok filmed in Oyster Bay, New York, has gone viral after capturing a heated exchange between a man in a pickup truck and another driver. The clip shows the truck’s driver hurling a racial slur at the person filming, then bizarrely attempting to shield himself by declaring: “I said I’m a cop, so do what you gotta do.”

When the man filming asks “And you told me to go back to my country?” the man nods in confirmation before rolling away. But not before his truck’s vanity plate, emblazoned with the word “Boogymn”, is clearly caught on camera.

The video ends with the filmer snapping back: “See you on TikTok.” And see him we did.

TikTok’s comment section erupted with disbelief and fury. One user pointed out the obvious: “They always wanna pull the ‘I’m a cop’ card.” Another added, “Impersonating a police officer is a federal crime 🤩🤩🤩.”

Others honed in on the plate itself. “The license plate says it all 🤭 his hard drives should definitely be searched,” one commenter joked darkly, while another admitted, “That license plate is terrifying 😳.”

The most cutting reaction, though, came from those who saw the excuse for what it was: “Even if you are a cop no one is above the law!!!”

Whether the man is actually employed by law enforcement remains unclear. TikTok detectives quickly pointed out a Marine Corps decal on the truck, but no confirmation has surfaced of his claim. If he isn’t a cop, he could be facing impersonation, which is a crime in itself.

If he is a cop, the situation is no less damning. Using the badge, or even just the suggestion of one, as a shield for racism goes beyond reckless bravado. It exposes a dangerous mindset: the belief that authority is a license for abuse.

This is hardly the first time TikTok has been used to expose racist behavior, but the combination of slurs, a smug “cop” declaration, and that eerie vanity plate has struck a nerve. Calls for accountability are already flooding the platform, with one commenter noting ““He’s the kind of cop that Trump created and needs to lose his job.”

For now, the man behind “Boogymn” remains unidentified by name. But with more than 6,000 likes on the original video and hundreds of comments demanding answers, TikTok’s spotlight is unlikely to fade soon.

As one commenter put it: “So he’s saying he’s got a pass.” If so, it’s one that New Yorkers aren’t buying.
