It’s not unusual for neighbors to call police about a noise complaint, even late at night. Often, it’s because someone really is making noise or has ignored earlier warnings. But it can feel shocking and upsetting to be woken in the middle of the night when you’ve done nothing to cause it. One woman in Connecticut says she was at home sleeping when police suddenly knocked on her door around 3:30 a.m. after her downstairs neighbor complained about loud sounds from her apartment.

The lady explained in a TikTok video that the visit left her anxious and confused because her home was quiet. “I was sound asleep. I have work in the morning. Nobody was making noise,” she said, adding that the same neighbor had complained before. “I honestly truthfully want to go downstairs and spaz on her. And I know that that’s not the best idea. She’s an older lady.” The woman also shared that she is seven months pregnant, which made the sudden police visit even harder for her condition. “I didn’t do anything. You just woke me up from my sleep. I have work in the morning. I have to live here and deal with this,” she said.

What People Are Saying About the Connecticut Woman’s Experience

Many viewers sympathized with her. “Sorry mama I hope you get some sleep and peace soon 🤞🏽,” one person wrote. A second pointed out how stressful her situation already is, writing, “7 months pregnant and working in the same sentence sounds stressful enough.” A third commenter noted, “If they are complaining about noise now, wait until baby starts walking/running,” while a fourth added, “She’s going to learn what noise from your apartment actually sounds like in a few months. Lol.”

Several people even recommended that she take formal action against her neighbor. Someone urged, “Please report this to your apartment complex.” Another advised, “I would file a complaint with your apartment management. If it’s happened more than once it’s now a problem and they need to deal with her accordingly.”

A few others suggested that the neighbor might be dealing with health problems. “She might be experiencing auditory hallucinations. Id alert the landlord. They may need a wellness check,” a netizen said. Another added, “My aunt did the same she kept hearing her neighbors loud music. The entire staff in her building couldn’t find it. Because it was her tinnitus she was hearing music in her own head!”
