Although some friendships last a lifetime with hardly anything to quarrel about or opportunities for resentment to grow, not everyone is so fortunate to have that. For some, a relationship can end up causing more trouble than they ever imagined. Just recently, an Atlanta woman shared on TikTok how a close friend she had helped land a job at her workplace ultimately caused her to lose hers.

In the clip, the TikToker recalled that the incident happened back in 2018 when she had been hired as a chiropractic assistant. Since vacancies had opened up at her workplace and she had a friend who had just lost her serving job, she guided the latter on how to prepare her résumé and what to say in the interview. The plan worked. The friend was hired, and neither of them told their colleagues that they had known each other beforehand.

From the beginning, however, the chiropractic assistant noticed her friend struggling to get along with coworkers, especially the receptionist and the manager. And since no one knew of their connection, other staff members freely complained to the Atlanta woman about it. She, on the other hand, simply kept up the charade that she barely knew her new coworker. Unfortunately, she didn’t remain unfazed for long.

Here’s What Her Friend Did

When the friend was preparing to move into a new home and needed proof of higher income to qualify, she created a fake employment verification form on a company computer without telling anyone. In the document, she claimed she earned a much larger salary than she actually did and falsely listed the TikToker as the manager. After printing it, the friend forgot to remove a copy from the office copier.

The next day the actual manager discovered the document and immediately called the chiropractic assistant into her office. Although the latter insisted she hadn’t created it, she chose not to “snitch on her friend.” Eventually, both women were questioned together, but the truth of what had happened remained hidden. After the meeting, the friend apologized privately, admitting she never meant for things to go so far. Still, the damage was done.

To the Atlanta woman’s shock, management decided to fire her even though she had worked there longer and had no part in the fraud. Her friend, on the other hand, kept the job. At first, the TikToker stayed calm, even speaking to the friend for a couple of days afterward, but the weight of what had happened eventually sank in. “I got her this job,” she said, adding that if the roles were reversed, she would have done everything possible to protect her friend. She finally chose to cut ties completely, sending one final message to end the friendship and moving on with her life.

What People Are Saying About the Atlanta Woman’s Experience

Many netizens had a lot to say on the matter. One viewer encouraged her decision to walk away, commenting, “Good for you. Stay positive keep negative people out.” Some warned her to be cautious when recommending friends for work. “You never refer anyone to your job. I learned the hard way,” one person wrote. A second person said, “You can’t help everybody if you know how they are on the streets definitely don’t try to get him a job where you work.”

A few others thought that her friend exhibited some suspicious behaviors. “She was sheisty from the beginning. You got her the job and she started off having problems with people there. That shows she was unappreciative and messy,” a netizen observed. Someone else added, “If they fired you and not her, I feel like she went behind your back and lied on you.”

Many also felt that her loyalty to her friend had made the situation worse for her. “You didn’t get fired because of her… you got fired because you didn’t snitch,” one viewer argued. Another wrote, “Even if it’s ur own blood doing shady stuff u need to hold them accountable, keeping quiet doesn’t solve any problem, it actually encourages the other person to continue.”
