In an incident in Boston, Massachusetts, a mother with her child on the same bus forcefully threw an elderly woman off. A video posted on Reddit showed a man reacting to an earlier clip of a woman in a bus yelling, “get the f*k out of the bus,” at an elderly woman as she turned back to properly place her baby, who was in a baby cot, on another chair.
With a phone in hand, she kept shouting, “Get off the bus,” while trying to physically remove the elderly woman using her other hand. Determined to drive her point home, she dropped her phone on a chair and aggressively shoved the elderly woman out of the bus. This time, she succeeded, and the woman was thrown outside. All of this happened while her baby was crying inside the bus.
As expected, people stormed the comments section in outrage over her behavior, expressing concern for the victim’s well-being. “She may have been late for work, but now she’s probably lost her job and is going to jail. So stupid,” one user wrote. In disbelief, another person added:
“A Black woman doing this to an old Black woman is f*cking crazy too. If this sh*t happened in the 90s or before, she’d be picking up teeth. WTF happened to the mad disrespect the youth have for the elderly now? It’s wild. You didn’t have to teach me to respect old people, either; it was just a thing we did. F*cking wild.”
Another user chipped in, questioning her judgment, “What’s the thought process here? ‘ I’m so concerned about my baby and my life that I’m going to… throw my life away and spend the next 5-15 years away from my baby because I can’t regulate my emotions properly?’”
Suggesting the old lady might have died from the force of the push, someone wrote, “She just might have pushed the old lady into an early grave.” More calls for jail time poured in, with one person adding, “You can kill an old person by slamming them to the pavement like that. She needs to go to jail. She’s a danger to the community.”
Acknowledging the impact on her child, one commenter wrote, “She’s a mom. Imagine what she subjects the child to.” This Redditor stated that such behavior is a sad reflection of American society, writing:
“Almost every day I ask myself if Americans are even human at this point. I’m an American who works in healthcare. We don’t know sympathy, faith, honesty, generosity, accountability, or loyalty. We’re just a bunch of butterballs pointing the finger at who’s to blame.”
As of the time of writing, it remains unknown what happened to the Massachusetts elderly woman who was pushed and the mother who pushed her. Hopefully, she survived the impact.
