When you’re paying a lot for food, you want the full amount. In our economy, it seems like portions are getting smaller and prices are going up. This imbalance isn’t doing wonders for anyone. A South Carolina woman was justly upset when she went to Chipotle for what she expected to be quite a large order. Instead, she was given an amount that would make even the lightest eater feel angry and cheated.
Gabriela (@gabisartoretti) posted a video titled, “Chipotle: Come to the front please.” The reason for her anger? She was ripped off with a much smaller order than she expected, and wondered if she was overreacting. Gabriela ordered the “build your own burrito” meal after it appeared on her For You page. The meal is supposed to feed groups of 4-6 people, according to Chipotle. She thought this would be a fantastic choice for her husband’s week-long meal prep.
Unfortunately, what Gabriela would receive would leave her baffled. She said she always sees pictures of the burrito meal, and the portions are “heaping.” Now, however, she thinks it was a marketing ploy. She then shows her audience all of the portions that they gave her when she picked it up. She sticks her hand in the cheese, and it instantly touches the bottom, showing that it doesn’t go very deep. Also, she explains that this is the amount you see on one regular bowl when you go to Chipotle. There were also minuscule portions of lettuce.
When Gabriela gets to the chicken, she said it was the main thing that her husband wanted in his meals for the week. She said he doesn’t really “give a s**t about all the extra stuff.” But they disappointed her there, too. She shows the bowl and says, “It’s like, one teeny-tiny thin layer of chicken.” Let me just tell you this from what I saw: There’s no way he’s getting even four meals for the week out of those bowls.
Gabriela tried to be understanding and call the store so she could get answers. However, Chipotle gave her the run-around, and it took some time for her to actually speak to someone. In the end, they told her that her only option was to leave a review on her order. That doesn’t help her in the now, but it is important to let these massive companies know when they’re cheating you out of food and services you paid for. She was especially mad because she spent about $50 on this lacking food that won’t even last.
Commenters agreed that they wouldn’t stand for that, given the price of food. One commenter said, “I work at Chip and they def made your order wrong… We’re forced to weigh the food to make sure it’s accurate.” Another questioned, “FIVE WHOLE MEALS?! Ain’t no way.” With reports of fast-food companies being accused of extreme price increases over the years, it spells out danger for our economy. It’s difficult for families who don’t have constant time to prepare and cook. It’s safe to say that you’re probably not going to get a bargain when it comes to purchasing meal prep from a restaurant.
