Business owners generally understand the importance of watching what they say online. With their reputation and livelihood tied so closely to public perception, most businesses keep their social media accounts squeaky clean. Sometimes they are so clean that they are boring to the point of sterility. But one small business in San Antonio, Texas, clearly didn’t get the memo. In a now-viral Reddit post, user Bookish_98 called out a local spot called Squish a Burger for an absolutely shocking comment made from the business’s official social media account. It’s unclear what exactly triggered the incident, but what is clear is that Squish a Burger’s account thought it was appropriate to leave a message saying, “I hope you get graped to death lmao.”
According to Bookish_98, the disturbing comment was made in reply to a post featuring a picture of their friend. Naturally, the reaction was outrage. “Who sends this vulgar type of message to someone? Especially something that claims to be a small business,” Bookish_98 wrote. “Squish a Burger has lost all of my respect and potential business. I’ll surely make sure that everyone I know doesn’t visit this establishment.”
The post quickly picked up traction on the r/sanantonio subreddit, where locals didn’t hold back. Many agreed that Squish a Burger’s comment was beyond unacceptable. Others chimed in to say that, unfortunately, they weren’t all that surprised. “The owner is a known piece of sh*t,” one commenter bluntly stated.
Another user shared a personal run-in with the San Antonio business owner: “Yeah, I met this guy through other people awhile back and he definitely gave off POS vibes. He’s the type of dude to say heinous things and then brush it off with, ‘I was just joking.’ I even used to follow him on Insta (he has multiple accounts) but I had to unfollow because he’s just a troll.”
Others pointed out that the owner has been active online for a while, posting inflammatory takes and even dabbling in conspiracy theories, like claiming that 9/11 was tied to CIA assets. It didn’t take long before some Reddit sleuths dug deeper into his accounts.
At one point, Squish a Burger’s account tried to walk things back, claiming the profile had been “hacked” and that over a thousand comments had supposedly been deleted. But Redditors weren’t buying it. To them, it sounded like nothing more than a lazy excuse to dodge accountability. “Now they’re saying someone hacked the account,” one redditor wrote. “But there are threads of terrible sh*t from weeks ago, so… I don’t know about that one.”
The controversy even sparked talk of review-bombing Squish a Burger’s Google business listing. However, some users noticed that they couldn’t find an active page at all. This fueled speculation that the small business might have already failed, leaving the owner to use the old brand’s account as a personal troll hub.
