I simply love watching videos starring Karens who say the most unhinged things imaginable. If it isn’t that they deserve to be treated a certain way just because they feel like it, then it’s being hateful towards others because, well, they also feel like it. In Texas, one Karen thought it was a good idea to make up aspects of the law after discovering a bystander recording officers at the site of a car crash. It’s incredibly strange to me that this Karen doesn’t think that a public roadway can be recorded just because she doesn’t like it. Fortunately, a heroic police officer showed up and shut the Karen down.
The above video features a woman and her alleged family after having been involved in some sort of vehicle wreck. It’s unclear as to what happened concerning the car, though that isn’t what the family involved is most concerned about. What they seem to dislike most about the situation is the fact that a male bystander is recording the entire accident. This doesn’t really make a ton of sense, as the road is not considered to be private property, and you do not have a reasonable expectation of privacy on the street.
Fortunately, the officer handling the situation heard everything going on and told the Karen and her family just that. She even mentioned that since he isn’t doing anything wrong, he can continue to stand there and record. It’s pretty clear from the very beginning of the altercation that this wasn’t going to be something the Karen’s family would want to hear, as they were already pulling out their phones to record in retaliation.
Various commentators were quick to judge the Karen and her family’s actions, with one of the top comments saying, “well that de-escalated quickly.” In response to that comment, another one reads, “And credit to the cop for knowing the law and shutting that down.” Honestly, I couldn’t agree more with that particular reply.
Despite the Karen’s actions toward the officer, it is never a good idea to mock an authority figure. It doesn’t matter whether or not you like them, because your actions can be used as evidence against you, should things escalate further. It doesn’t really matter if she has the money for bail in that event. Fortunately, it appears that the man recording wasn’t bothered again after this and was presumably able to continue recording in peace.
