Ohio Woman Explains That CVS Pharmacists Need Their Break and What They Get Isn’t Enough, ‘You Had to Eat Little on the Go Snacks at Your Station for Lunch’

You have to truly feel bad for the pharmacists

Almost everybody you know is probably overworked. So many people signed up for the 9-5 work life to find out that the days seem unending. This is why it is important to show compassion to people who show up and do what needs to be done. An Ohio TikToker went on screen to tell her audience that CVS pharmacists don’t get a long enough break. She made this helpful PSA to remind people that you need to be kind to workers. You never know what is expected of them in a day.

TikTok user @hhh9936 begged her audience, “Please have empathy for your own pharmacists.” She goes on to say that many people may have noticed that pharmacies are now typically closed between 1:30-2 p.m. This is because the pharmacist cannot “legally stay open without the pharmacist present.” When people show up at 1:30 p.m. demanding that a pharmacist help them, this is blatantly rude behavior. They’re taking away from the pharmacist’s extremely short 30 minutes for a lunch break.

@hhh9936

Please have empathy for your own pharmacists. And don’t be the guy that tries to come get your med during our only break all day. If we’re open for 10-13 hours, 6 days a week … surely you can find a better time to come in. #pharmacist #pharmacytiktok #pharmacylaw

She then reveals that she’s a pharmacist herself. Personally, she stays on her location from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with just one measly break. She says, “No, I’m not staying open for anything.” Nobody should ever feel so entitled that they believe they’re more important than another person’s work break. Everybody deserves breaks and they should always be offered; in fact, breaks aren’t typically long enough.

This pharmacist explains that the break is actually a lot more than just time to sit. She says, “That 30 minutes is the only time I get to be off my feet. It’s the only time I get to look at my phone. It’s the only time I get to eat something. I get one 30-minute break for a 10 to 13-hour shift.” It’s not fair and nobody should ever try to take advantage of that even further.

Commenters agreed that they, too, experience this type of treatment from others while working at a pharmacy. One person stated, “Mind you, this is a fairly new thing. Pharmacists used to have to work the whole day without closing the pharmacy for lunch. You had to eat little on the go snacks at your station for lunch.” Another person suggested, “D**n ya’ll need a union!! That’s horrifying.” It’s quite sad and these pharmacists deserve so much more.
