Now that Prince Harry is back in the States and out of the picture for now, the talk of the town is Donald Trump’s big visit to the UK and the State Banquet with King Charles. Besides all the controversy that could be discussed with POTUS, many fans of the Royal Family were waiting to see if the King’s wayward son would be mentioned during the speeches. After all, Prince Harry is somewhat of an extension of the Palace to the US, ex-royal or not. Unfortunately for him, though, King Charles did the right thing and showed his errant son the proper respect: by not mentioning his name at all.
One online commenter pointed out how, if there was ever a moment to speak on the King’s “direct family ties” to the US, Charles could have mentioned his son, Prince Harry. Yet he opted not to, and it was “deliberate.” Even President Donald Trump didn’t bother talking about the Sussexes but instead focused on praising the son who was present, Prince William, and his wife, Catherine, Princess of Wales. “Like The Spare literally doesn’t exist 🤣🤣,” joked one user. The US President has already shown his disdain for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in the past. So, many believed calling William a “remarkable son” to King Charles was actually an indirect swipe at Prince Harry.

“At least the King’s respecting Sussexes’ privacy, even the Sussexes themselves don’t,” remarks a Reddit user. Followers of the Sussexes will recall how Prince Harry was said to have agreed with King Charles about not leaking anything said during their private meeting at Clarence House. However, Harry has betrayed Charles by trying his hardest to insinuate things that were likely discussed, such as his children coming to the UK or the King nearing the grave. On the other hand, Charles has not shamed his son or discussed the controversy about Harry at all, even though he could have during the State Banquet.
In the end, it was for the best that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were left out of any dialogue made during the royal get-together with Trump. After all, as one person put it, the two are just too controversial. Even mentioning their names would simply give them unnecessary publicity, which is what they want anyway. At the very least, Netflix seems to be on the Sussexes’ side, with the co-CEO coming out and saying that Meghan is a “remarkable influence.”
