A woman shopping at a store in Fremont Hub, California, shared a TikTok video about an encounter she believes was racially motivated. She explained that she came in to buy fabric sprays and clothing items when a male store employee allegedly followed her and accused her of not scanning all her items. Feeling targeted, she immediately asked another worker, identified only as Nathan, to cancel the transaction rather than finish paying. “He came out talking about, you need to scan everything, which I did,” she said, adding that she shops there often and always scans her items.

@diffebreednt

this wanna be top of the security guard head a** was really following me when i came in SMDH when there was many other people walking around. And he accused me of not scanning all the items which I did. I decided to not pay because of the racial harassment, so I Edward canceled the transaction. The location is in Fremont Hub, CA (the bay) the exact address is 39170 Argonaut Way Fremont, CA 94538 United States THIS WAS SO UNPROFESSIONAL #blackownedbusiness #foryou #racialprofiling

While filming inside the store and recounting her experience for viewers, the customer claimed that the employee seemed to single her out even though other shoppers were present. “I’m the only Black goddess… he ain’t come up with nobody else out here,” she said. She also noted that the employee had not been on the sales floor when she entered and only appeared after she filled her cart and began scanning.

At one point, when she approached the employee and urged him to “do his job,” the man suggested to a co-worker that the police be called. “Yeah, no, call the police. Please. You just don’t know who the f**k I am,” she responded. “He’s unprofessional. Racism too at that.”

After stepping outside, the shopper briefly re-entered to show how other customers were treated. She followed two different shoppers back inside and pointed out that the same employee made no move to stop or question them. “You ain’t gonna follow them? You ain’t gonna follow them?” she called out. Finally, she left for good, again warning viewers not to visit the location. “Please do not come here,” she said, sharing the store’s exact address so others would know where the incident took place.

What People Are Saying About the California Store Incident

Many commenters praised her decision to walk away. “Good job for not purchasing 💪🏾🙌🏾,” one person wrote, while another added, “Yes goddess take your money elsewhere. They don’t appreciate you.” Some also supported her claim of racial profiling. “Yup! That is exactly how they do us!” one person said. Another remarked, “He is even discriminating you because he’s going by your appearance… I think you need to boycott that place. 💯”

One person was frustrated by the employee’s suggestion to involve law enforcement. “Calling the Police for WHAT!?” they asked. A few others criticized the store for jeopardizing customer trust over mere assumptions. “They don’t even have enough business to be losing customers but that happens when you treat them poorly,” someone observed.
