If you ever have an issue with a business or a company, it’s always best to keep your cool and avoid being rude to the staff. Indeed, while this can be a challenge, especially when tempers are high and you’re in the heat of the moment, as soon as you begin getting abusive in any way, shape or form, you’ll likely not get the intended result you want. This occurred recently in a U-Haul in Massachusetts, when a pair of customers complained about allegedly getting overcharged for their truck rental. Unfortunately, these patrons were so rude, the manager refused them service and asked them to leave the premises.
The tense three-minute confrontation occurs inside if a U-Haul store in Raynham, Massachusetts, and sees a female employee — who is allegedly the manager — in the midst of a combative back and forth with a couple of irate customers. The video is recorded from the perspective of one of said patrons, and it’s important to note that we don’t get to see the buildup before the clip takes place.
As the video unfolds, the U-Haul manager is stood behind the counter and appears to be very frustrated, as she’s asking for the pair to, “Get out of the building,” and that she’s asked the duo “multiple times.” In retort, one of the customers mentions that, “You’re overcharging–“, which appears to be the conflict at the heart of the altercation, though the manager isn’t having any of it, and is demanding that they leave.
The two customers don’t follow her instruction, however, and continue to ask questions like, “What are you threatened by us for?” To this, the U-Haul employee yells back, “What? You’re standing here with five phones in my face! Get out of the building! What is your problem? Get out of the building!” The patrons continue to ask why they are being kicked out, but the manager’s patience has clearly worn out, as she just repeatedly insists that they leave the store.
An interesting moment in the video sees the cameraman asking the U-Haul manager, “Why are you shaking? You’re trembling.” and to this, the employee states that she’s not trembling and not shaking. However, one of the customers does clearly state, “It’s on video, you f*cking dumb*s.” which is evidence that the pair of customers have not exactly been very polite during the heated back and forth. Compounding this, is the fact that the cameraman chastises his “partner” and says, “Kylie, you’re killing the video. Hold on. Wait.” which suggests that the pair’s motives may be deliberately inflammatory.
After further arguing, the customer asks, “You’re the manager of U-Haul in Raynham?” and the manager responds, “My name is on the door, right?” Next, two Taunton Police officers enter the store and attempt to defuse the situation, with the manager asking them, “Can you get these two out, please?” What’s notable is that the female cop actually recognizes one of the customers. “We’re trying to return a rental.” states one customer, while the other declares, “Love me, huh? See what I go through daily. I came here and told her that I’m being overcharged for a u-haul.” While the customer claims that he’s been “polite”, the evidence largely suggests otherwise. The pair are escorted off the premises by the police, ending the footage.
Reactions to the video have largely sided with the U-Haul manager on this one, and I’m inclined to agree with that sentiment. One Redditor wrote, “One of the two officers recognizes the guy, so I’m guessing he’s the problem.” while another added, “I’m always on the side of the person not holding the camera until given a reason not to be.” Meanwhile, a third chimed in with, “Give this uhaul worker a raise. ” while a fourth penned, ““You’re killing the video” speaks volumes“, which sums up my thoughts perfectly.
