If you ever encounter ICE agents out in public, it’s honestly best to assume you’re dealing with thugs and bullies rather than any kind of professional law enforcement. These days, there are countless stories of people being violently arrested, assaulted, or even killed at the hands of ICE agents. Unfortunately two men in Chicago, Illinois, found themselves targeted by ICE in exactly this kind of ugly situation.
The cameraman, realizing immediately that things were about to go downhill, pulled out his phone and started recording. Sure enough, the ICE agents quickly surrounded the vehicle and revealed that they intended to arrest the cameraman’s coworker. The problem? That coworker actually had legal status. Despite that, they singled him out anyway.
At first, the agents put on a fake “friendly” act, though even then their “niceness” came with constant commands for the coworker to get out of the car. When the Chicago man tried to explain that his coworker was just trying to find his paperwork, one of the ICE agents immediately took offense. Instead of listening, he snapped back, saying, “Don’t talk to me that way,” and then had the nerve to tell the cameraman to “calm down,” even though the agent was clearly the one acting aggressively.
As if mocking the whole thing, the same agent then smirked at the camera and said that if he was being filmed, the cameraman should at least get his “good side.” The arrogance was obvious, and it was clear they enjoyed the little power trip. Once the act of pretending to be “civil” wore off, the agents started ramping up the pressure, demanding again and again that the coworker step out of the car. Not wanting to escalate the situation further, the men eventually gave in and followed orders, even though it was clear how unfair and unnecessary the whole encounter was.
Things got even more heated when the Chicago man tried to shut his car door and got into a brief verbal spat with another agent. Instead of de-escalating, the agent laughed in his face and mockingly told him he was “lucky.” The cameraman, furious, responded in Spanish while still recording, capturing his friend being handcuffed and led away by ICE.
When this footage hit the internet, people were appalled and outraged. The ICE agents’ behavior was thuggish, arrogant, and dripping with enjoyment at the intimidation they were causing. One user didn’t hold back, writing: “America, you have fallen so far. How did it happen this fast? These f***wads are nothing but loser MAGA wannabe cops in cosplay. It’s DISGUSTING.” Another user chimed in: “As somebody from Europe, this is kind of horrifying to see. Like beyond the pale, actual jaw-dropping horrifying.”
Many echoed these sentiments, criticizing the ICE agents as little more than bullies who target those they think are weaker and more vulnerable. One comment wrote, “This guy thinks he’s so badass arresting men just trying to make a living. What gets me is that the man doing the arresting didn’t earn his spot in America through merit, but by random chance.”
