Racism has no place in civilised society, and so when I see racially charged incidents that involve harassment and hate speech, it always rubs me the wrong way. One such incident occurred recently in Florida, where a Black man was targeted by a bigoted Karen while he was filling up gas in his vehicle at a Walmart gas station. The victim of the hateful rant recorded the ugly exchange and it’s currently making the rounds online.
The heated incident took place in Florida, and is recorded from the perspective of the victim who is at the pump. Accompanying the clip is the caption, “A Real Life Karen” with a couple of laughing emojis and a facepalming emoji. Straightaway, the Karen — who is notably wearing a red State Farm uniform and a creme corduroy jacket — fires mid-sentence, “–Your f*cking way! You’re the biggest f*cking piece of sh*t! You smell like weed coming out of your f*cking car.” The victim of the verbal attack asks the woman to “get back“, but this only aggravates her further.
“Get back? Get back?” she yells, angrily, before the man clarifies that she’s on camera. “Good, I’m on camera! Your weed is coming out of your f*cking car! You’ve been driving like a piece of sh*t. F*ck you. You’re a f*cking n*gger!” she screams, before adding,“I hope you get f*cking murdered!” as she gets back into her black Honda vehicle.
Of course, reactions to the ugly confrontation have been critical of the racist Karen at the heart of the incident. Over on Instagram, one user confirmed that the woman in the video does indeed work for State Farm, writing, “She works for State Farm” while another added, “worked.. soon to be past tense“.
One commenter felt like she would’ve had to step in if she had witnessed the altercation first hand, penning, “As a black female I wouldโve had to intervene for my brother ๐๐พ” with another expressing, “Always trying to provoke blk people especially blk men..they can’t wait to call out the “n” word..so exhausting” Meanwhile, over on Youtube, one comment summed up my thoughts, exclaiming, “These people are so miserable. It’s hard for them to mind their business!“
