NFL star Greg Olsen found himself in the hot seat during a recent on-air appearance with Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy, and things got heated fast. What started as a jab about Olsen’s casual look spiraled into a fiery back-and-forth filled with sarcasm, clapbacks, and accusations of “rage baiting.”
The drama kicked off when Portnoy mocked Olsen’s wardrobe choice, specifically his baseball cap. “The shirt and the hat?” Portnoy asked pointedly, before doubling down, “The hat, it looks like you’re heading straight to the NLCS or something.” Olsen explained that the cap was simply a quick fix because he hadn’t done his hair yet, but the comment clearly struck a nerve.
Not one to take criticism lying down, Olsen fired back with a thinly veiled threat to walk away from the recurring Monday spot altogether. “If I’m gonna keep getting a hard time from this show, I might just bag Monday morning,” he warned. “Be like, you know what, you guys are on your own. Deal with it. Good luck.” Portnoy pounced on the comment, reminding Olsen that he had already “bagged it” the week prior. He didn’t hold back, calling the look “preposterous.”
Fans Rally Behind Greg Olsen After Dave Portnoy ‘Rage Baits’ Him Over Outfit
The exchange escalated when Olsen flipped the critique back on Portnoy himself, questioning why the Barstool boss was so quick to attack others. “Like, you’re Mr. Fashion? You’re real critical of everybody else’s look for a guy who’s not the best-looking guy in the world,” Olsen shot back.
Portnoy, of course, wasn’t about to let the insult slide. He brushed it off by separating style from physical appearance. “There’s a difference between not being great looking and fashion,” he said. “I can’t control how I look. This is how God made me, Greg. But I can wear a nice shirt with the hat.”

Once the clip hit Instagram, fans wasted no time defending Olsen and dragging Portnoy. Some praised Olsen as “the best,” while others blasted Portnoy for intentionally antagonizing him. One fan wrote that they “used to be a big Portnoy fan” but couldn’t continue to support him while he was “rage baiting one of the nicest legends of football,” urging him to “leave Big G alone.”
Fans Clap Back at Portnoy
Others took even harsher shots at the Barstool founder. Several users accused him of changing after finding success, with one bluntly stating, “Portnoy a clown, money changed him.” Another added, “Portnoy is even hated by Michigan fans. That’s how bad he is.” Many also pointed out the hypocrisy of Portnoy criticizing Olsen’s fashion choices, with one commenter quipping, “Portnoy dresses like a bum most of the time and he has the audacity to talk about what a dude sitting in his house is wearing.” Some fans didn’t mince words at all, with one writing simply, “I hate Dave.”
Despite the fiery back-and-forth, Olsen hinted on-air that he might “bag Monday morning” altogether if the digs keep coming. For now, fans will have to wait until after the weekend to see if Olsen will appear on the show or stay true to his word.
