There are plenty of heated political takes online, but Texas streamer Asmongold recently dropped one of the most controversial opinions yet. During a recent stream, he claimed that if given the choice, he would “absolutely disenfranchise 85% of people,” saying that within 10 to 20 years, those same people would be “thankful for removing the burden.” According to him, there are simply “too many dumb people,” and he even used Kamala Harris’s near-win as an example of how flawed democracy had become.
Asmongold went on to say that democracy itself was a “bad idea,” arguing that the quality of presidents had only declined over time. The Texas streamer described himself as “ahead of the curve,” claiming that more people would eventually start agreeing with him. In his words, it didn’t matter if there was no upward mobility for regular people, because he believed it was better to have the “most powerful and richest” in charge rather than “idiots running the government.”
It’s safe to say that the comments left many people shocked, disturbed, and speechless. While Asmongold is no stranger to controversial takes, especially on political topics, many felt this one went way too far. Online communities quickly began pushing back, calling him out for what they saw as elitist and extremist views.
“Be gone, daemon of Nurgle,” one user joked, mocking the Texas streamer’s dramatic tone. Others took a harsher stance, saying it was unwise to listen to him at all, suggesting that he hadn’t been the same since his mother’s passing. One Reddit user wrote, “If you’ve ever had a dead rat go unnoticed in your bedroom for a year, you shouldn’t be allowed on the internet,” referencing a notorious story Asmongold once told. Another commenter followed up with a disturbing detail: “He noticed it. He said when the sun came up, it would heat the rat through the window, and the stench would wake him up like an alarm clock.”
Some users found his comments deeply ironic, pointing out that calling others “idiots” might not be something he was in a position to do. “Considering he thinks Kamala would have been worse than Trump, if anyone’s out, he’s got to be first in line,” one person said. “That’s the irony with people like this, they don’t realize where they are on the ‘idiot spectrum.’”
Others questioned what made Asmongold so confident in his political opinions in the first place, noting that his reputation came from being an online entertainer, not a political thinker. “Remember when this guy used to play World of Warcraft all day and didn’t care what was going on in the world?” one comment read. “Now he’s just another rich guy complaining about the state of things that don’t actually affect him, pretending he’s some kind of visionary.”
