That was very fast

Any property requires a lot of constant maintenance, and even then, there are times when problems are not immediately apparent. Even so, at the first sign that a repair is needed, it is best to do it right away or the problem may worsen later. Such is the case with this tenant in New York, who discovered mold in their apartment but now has to wait for management to return from the holidays to address the issue.

Redditor 1saltedsnail posted several photos of their apartment on r/AmIOverreacting, showing a serious mold problem. According to the pictures, the mold has spread across several walls and a closet. In some parts, the paint is already peeling and is wet. The mold problem is already quite serious, and unfortunately, the management office in New York is closed for the holidays. However, the OP continued to call the management call center to report the mold problem. Still, they told the OP that it wasn’t urgent and that they would wait until the workers returned from vacation.

Even so, the OP is very concerned and doesn’t know if they’re overreacting by worrying so much. However, it seems that not all users agree with the OP about this emergency. Several users even believe that it was more negligence on their part.

“That didn’t happen in a few days that’s quite a while that would have built up. Yes you need to get it done and has potential to make you sick if not Shut the doors on it and open the windows. Their attitude maybe that you have been living with it all this time so a few days more If it really concerns you can you go and stay with someone for a few days, [sic]” said Ancient_Driver_3092 via Reddit.

“It’s a problem definitely. But I’m not sure it’s a ‘drop everything’ and cancel vacation problem though. I’d move those boxes because the mold can get on them and ruin them, or there may be water dripping,” commented IBeTrippin.

Based on these responses, the OP added more information in comments saying that they saw the mold before. However, in recent days, they noticed that the damage worsened exponentially quickly. That said, they felt more at ease when one of the Redditors explained that while the mold is indeed an emergency, waiting a couple more days would not be the end of the world. So, the OP felt relieved and thanked that person in the comments.
