Working out with a friend is a great way to burn calories, gain strength, and pep each other up. Many people bring a loved one to the gym with them so they can meet their goals together! But what happens when somebody tries to ruin that joy and another personโs well-being? This is exactly what happened when two New Jersey women were approached by a Karen at the gym, who had some nasty and racist thoughts to share.
Pietra Nunes shared her video of the incident on TikTok. Her and her friend were working out and having some fun with each other when a nearby woman decided to speak up. She said, โExcuse me. If you wanna jump around like a f*****g ant, go outside.โ She then called Pietraโs friend an idiot and cursed at her even though they werenโt even in her space. She then dropped a big one on them: โGo back to your f*****g country.โ
The Karen kept things going, calling her friend an โalienโ and telling her to โsuck a d**k.โ When Pietraโs friend is squatting on the floor to pick up her water, the Karen threw water on them. When Pietraโs friend asks her whatโs wrong with her, she has no clear answer. Afterwards, they want to get security involved. The entire way out of the gym, theyโre being berated by this woman even though they did literally nothing to her.
Though several commenters victim-blamed and tried to point out that they did very little to protect themselves, that isnโt the point here. The best move is to show the video to the gym so they can handle it (hopefully by banning that person from the gym.)
When one commenter questioned why they โletโ her treat them that way, another person defended them with, โBecause these two young girls have class and were brought up well. They obviously couldโve taken that old Karen hag down in a heartbeat. They werenโt scared. Thatโs whatโs wrong with this world.โ
Another person suggested, โCall the police and file an assault charge,โ which is also the correct response. If someoneโs willing to dump water on you, they might be willing to get physical. Not to mention this incident being racially motivated.
