Asmongold Sparks Outrage With Comments Advocating Violence and Forced Labor Against Protesters

Not a good look.

Streamer Zack Hoyt, better known online as Asmongold, has sparked widespread condemnation after remarks he made during a recent broadcast advocating for extreme measures against anti-ICE protesters. The comments, which surfaced online last week, depict Hoyt suggesting the use of compelled labor for arrested demonstrators and even discussing running over protesters with vehicles. More recently, he suggested police should use live ammunition against protestors.

The statements were met with immediate backlash across social media platforms. A Reddit thread discussing the clip described Hoyt as “a fascist” and “the living embodiment of the worst right-wing takes,” with users noting a sharp decline in the tone of his content compared to his earlier, more gaming-focused streams. Many commenters highlighted that Hoyt had previously gained popularity for World of Warcraft content, but has shifted toward politically charged commentary that some say traffics in extreme and violent rhetoric.

“This all makes me sad now,” wrote one former fan, reflecting on the transformation of Hoyt’s channel from gaming entertainment to incendiary political commentary. Another user added, “He’s serious… he’s said crazier things and meant it. Don’t let his living conditions fool you. He’s very rich, and rich people who say awful things tend to mean it.”

Media experts and commentators on social platforms criticized Hoyt’s rhetoric as dangerous, emphasizing that calls for violence against protesters are not only morally abhorrent but also legally perilous.

Asmongold has not publicly clarified or retracted his statements. The controversy has prompted discussions about the responsibility of social media personalities to avoid inciting violence, particularly when addressing real-world events and demonstrations.

The incident serves as a stark reminder that online platforms, even those primarily known for gaming content, can become conduits for extremist viewpoints and dangerous rhetoric when unchecked.
