Texas Streamer Gives Birth on Twitch in Front of 29,000 Viewers: ‘I Hope They Name the Baby Truman’

Chat is this the birth of a new trend?

Lots of odd things have been livestreamed on Twitch from bathing to farting sessions, but a live birth is something new, and something that Austin, Texas-based streamer Fandy has achieved recently. Fandy, whose real name is Cady, chose to be in labor and give birth to her child with the help of a midwife while livestreaming the whole struggle on Twitch. The result was 29,000 viewers, a new Twitch record, and last but not least, a healthy baby girl.

This live birth took place on October 8 at around 2:45 AM, with Fandy being surrounded and closely watched by her friends and relatives. The birth wasn’t exactly explicitly displayed, as that would’ve been banned on Twitch. Fandy merely set up a camera pointing in the direction where she was giving birth while still covered. Here’s a repost of the clip on Reddit since Twitch embeds are not allowed:

The whole livestream of the labor, however, took around eight hours. Despite the most eventful period of the stream taking place during dead hours, Fandy still managed to rack up as much 29,000 viewers all watching the birth of her baby girl. After the long and successful labor, Fandy has named her baby Luna Rose.

Following the birth, however, online accusations were thrown at Fandy, alluding to how she monetized the birth of her newborn baby. Fandy, however, has addressed these criticisms in a recent Instagram post: “I did not do it for the ‘money’. Neither me nor Bryan asked for subs, made goals, or really even acknowledged bits (as much as we appreciate you guys)…we were busy. I’m not sure I even had alerts on. Ads were lowered to minimal levels like they always are and not raised.”

Fandy’s critics were speechless

After the successful birth, Fandy also decided to immediately deactivate her OnlyFans because her “next arc starts now” and she thanks her viewers and fans “for being apart of the journey.” Fandy notably got her start as an Overwatch and World of Warcraft streamer all the way from 2015, and she gradually transitioned to content creation and OnlyFans.

With that said, some of the viewers were in disbelief, especially those outside of Twitch, and they were scratching their heads at this new world record for the streaming platform. In the Reddit thread where the birth clip was reposted, a commenter even suggested, “I hope they name the baby Truman because you know that kids life is going to be broadcast,” as a reference to Jim Carrey’s The Truman Show, where a man suddenly found out his life was a reality show. Sadly, Fandy named her Luna Rose.

Others were genuinely curious and questioned exactly why Fandy would stream such a moment, and this live birth on Twitch has also drawn much controversy online, even from fellow content creators. And while many were seemingly disgusted with the gesture, such as one commenter who said, “This is disgusting. Anything for views man…” others were simply happy that the baby was healthy.
