Battlefield 6 has brought back Classes, a nice return to the roots of the franchise. But you can now choose whatever weapon you want, no matter the Class you pick once you’re in the game. This is the new Open Weapon system in Battlefield 6; however, you’ll get additional gameplay features and buffs for sticking to the plan and selecting the signature weapon of each class.
What Is A Signature Weapon In Battlefield 6?

Each Class in Battlefield 6 has 1 signature primary weapon category that’s highlighted by a small blue sign. It’s an Assault Rifle for the Assault, SMG for the Engineer, LMG for Support, and Sniper Rifle for the Recon. Now, if you choose any weapon from that group, you’ll gain the following buffs:
- Assault class traits are faster sprint to fire speed and reduced fall damage, which you can combine with faster weapon switch if you select an AR as your primary weapon.
- As an Engineer, you’ll take less damage from explosives, and with an SMG in your hands, you’ll have increased hip fire accuracy.
- Support class lovers and Medics can revive and drag down friendlies faster, and with an LMG build, you’ll no longer have to deal with sprint speed penalties that come with heavy weapons.
- You’ll be able to hold your breath and gain increased bolt rechambering speed while using sniper rifles as Recon. Also, the core ability that comes with the Recon class is that you can automatically spot enemies when aiming down sight, which you can pull off with or without sniper rifles.
With Class-stricted perks and gadgets, Battlefield 6 pushed players to select classes based on the abilities they bring to the table and not their weapons. However, you’ll gain the maximum advantage by using each class’s signature weapon as an option.
