Kid Rock just learned the internet has zero chill. A clip of the singer’s recent Fox News appearance is going viral on X (formerly Twitter), where he ranted about people “who think they’re cooler than art thou” and “worry about their outfit every day.” But instead of agreeing with his point, fans zeroed in on his outfit, and the roast was ruthless.
“You know what’s stupid?” Kid Rock began. “It’s people who think they’re cooler than art thou that worry about their outfit every day. Like some of these rock singers that live here in L.A., or these chicks running around their campuses with blue hair and five nose rings.”
Dressed in a white Detroit Tigers bomber jacket, orange-tinted aviators, and a cowboy hat, the 54-year-old’s look quickly stole the spotlight. Viewers flooded the comments with jokes, dubbing him a “Temu Richard Petty,” aka a budget version of the legendary NASCAR driver, and turning his Fox News moment into a full-blown meme.
“Imagine dressing like a Temu Richard Petty and criticizing anyone for their appearance,” one user wrote. Another added, “If crystal meth were a person, it would look like Kid Rock.” Others pointed out the hypocrisy in his rant. “He’ll make fun of their appearance, but he’ll still chase after them as groupies,” someone fired back. “I’ve seen some of the apparel Kid Rock has worn, and he has NO business criticizing anyone for their ‘blue hair’ or ‘nose rings.’ Stay in your lane, Kid Rock!” another user added.
A Look Back at Kid Rock’s Bud Light Controversy
It’s not the first time the “All Summer Long” singer has sparked online backlash. The viral moment comes just a few years after Kid Rock’s infamous Bud Light controversy, when he took aim at the beer brand over its short-lived partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney.
Rock was among the first to lead a boycott, famously posting a video of himself shooting cases of Bud Light with a rifle. The backlash snowballed into one of the biggest brand crises in recent memory, costing Bud Light both sales and reputation. But he has since changed his tune.
Speaking with Tucker Carlson on his X show earlier this year, Rock admitted, “Bud Light deserved a black eye and they got one,” before clarifying that he’s ready to move on. “Do I want to hold their head underwater and drown them because they made a mistake? No, I think they got the message.”
