In light of Oscar-winning actress Diane Keaton’s unexpected death, celebrities from all over the world are now paying tribute. A family spokesperson asked for privacy for loved ones at this time. But, now more than ever, it’s important to remember the amazing impact Keaton has left on many lives over the years. Rising to fame with her role in The Godfather in the 70s, she went on to play important roles in Play It Again, Sam, Harry and Walter Go to New York, Crimes of the Heart, and more. In more recent years, we saw her in The Family Stone the beloved Something’s Gotta Give, which landed her an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. 

Diane Keaton’s Legacy

Since the early 70s, Diane Keaton quickly became a household name (and favorite) to many. From comedies to dramas, she played every role and always played it best. This landed her an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award, two Golden Globes, and several other nominations for prestigious awards here in America. She had a total of 23 nominations throughout her life for various films, including popular crime dramas like Looking for Mr. Goodbar and historical epics, like Reds.

Keaton also wrote a memoir, Then Again, in 2011 talking about her roles and the relationship between mothers and daughters. This was told through her experiences growing up with her very own mom. In her memoir, she talked about her unforgettable legacy with very insightful views into her own personal life. She said, “As an actress, I’m drawn to emotion and expressing the human condition in all its forms, and I’m fortunate to have thoughts and feelings at my fingertips.” Diane wasn’t just an extraordinary actress but also a mother to two adopted children, Dexter Keaton White and Duke Keaton. In everything from acting to parenting, she always gave it her all. 

Celebrity Reactions to Diane Keaton’s Death

Now, in the face of Diane Keaton’s death at age 79, celebrities from across the world are sharing tributes and reactions about their love for this true star. 

Actress, comedian, and writer Lily Tomlin posted on her Instagram: “Rest peacefully, the magnificent Diane Keaton.” 

Variety paid tribute with: “Diane Keaton, whose long, versatile career was indelibly highlighted by her Academy Award-winning performance as Woody Allen’s titular love interest in the actor-writer-direction’s 1977 romantic comedy “Annie Hall,” has died. She was 79.” 

NYC Actor and Director, Peter Zachari, said: “I am gutted. NO!” 

And Broadcaster Piers Morgan chimed in on X: “RIP Diane Keaton, 79. Oscar-winning star of Annie Hall, brilliant in The Godfather and Father of the Bride movies. One of Hollywood’s greatest actresses, and a delightful lady. Sad news.”
