It is always an inconvenience to customers whenever DoorDash drivers drop off orders at the wrong address. Not only will you be kept hungry longer, but you might have to jump through several hoops to get it back from the person who received it. A huge misunderstanding between neighbors in Atlanta occurred after a delivery driver left a food order at a woman’s apartment, unaware that it belonged to a nearby resident. Moments later, a man came to the woman’s door and knocked lightly, presumably to ask for the food back since it was no longer where it had been placed. When he received no response, he left.
Soon after, another person appeared at the door and rang the bell repeatedly. When she too did not receive any response, she warned, “We’re calling the police if you don’t give it up. We’re tired of this, and I already alerted management, so please give us back our food.” Still, no one answered, and the neighbor grew increasingly frustrated. “This is really petty,” she said, banging on the door. “Please just give us back our food, and I won’t have to call the police or alert management. This is [expletive] ridiculous.”
Eventually, the homeowner answered through the door and said she had been in the shower. She also asked the neighbor to stop pounding on her door. The woman outside replied that she simply needed her food returned. “It’s our food,” she insisted. When the homeowner repeated that she was unavailable, the woman continued pressing, asking if someone else in the home could bring it out.
After a few more exchanges between them, the neighbor stormed off without the food but not before threatening to call the police again. The homeowner responded after the other had left by tossing the food onto the walkway and closing the door. Shortly after, police officers arrived at the apartment, though the ring camera footage didn’t show how their exchange with the homeowner concluded.
The homeowner later explained in the caption of the TikTok video she uploaded that she had called DoorDash to report the mix-up and that the company told her to keep the food. However, she said she didn’t want to eat it because she doesn’t trust delivered meals. “She [the neighbor] wanted smoke so bad,” the caption read. “I was literally in the shower.”
Online Reaction to the DoorDash Delivery Dispute in Atlanta
The video drew a divided response online, with some viewers criticizing the homeowner for taking the food inside while others felt the neighbor’s reaction was excessive. “I mean, why did you even bring it inside if it didn’t belong to you?” one commenter asked. Another added, “It just looks like you were trying to get some free food tbh 😂😭😭.” A third wrote, “Why bring it inside? That’s weird. She isn’t a Karen, seems like she’s just fed up. Times are tough.” A fourth user remarked, “Bro, ur so weird. Ppl pay a lot for DoorDash these days.”
Many viewers, however, defended the homeowner. “It ain’t her fault that DoorDash delivered to the wrong address,” one person said. “She said she was trying to find the people’s address and couldn’t. She isn’t responsible to do the delivery guy’s job!” Another netizen agreed, explaining, “I’ve brought food inside that was delivered by accident mainly because of bugs and weather.”
