October 18th has loomed in the distance for quite a long time. For many, it symbolizes a stand against tyranny in a country that was built on democracy. For others, it’s a threat to their current beliefs and a symbol of anarchy. New York City‘s participation in the #NoKings protest drew thousands, and videos are showing lines of protestors that span for miles.

In a video by @btnewsroom, protestors lined the street from one side to the other, effectively taking over Times Square. As the drone pans out, there’s no end in sight to the long line of signs, chanting, and unity shown by New Yorkers. Moving as a single unit, protestors took the city by storm in the most peaceful way possible. The movement will go down as one of the largest protests against Trump and his politics in history.

At first glance, it looks like the Macy’s Day Thanksgiving Parade came early. However, this crowd is slated to break the record for the city’s most prominent holiday event. For those protesting and watching at home, No Kings has practically become a holiday in itself. Viewers at home shared the sentiment, saying things like, “So proud of my hometown!” and “Thanks for showing up, NYC!”

The showstopper of the No Kings protest was a massive banner that snaked its way through the crowd. It read, “Defend Democracy: It’s Time for a General Strike.” Many commented on the video to boost its visibility, saying, “What a beautiful sign! Thanks to everyone who was able to get out and participate!” Another commented in support of the idea, saying, “Time for a national strike! Shut down the ports, truck drivers stop delivering goods, no one goes to work. No one spends a dime.”
