Jeff Goldblum’s return to voice Dr. Ian Malcolm in Jurassic World Evolution 3 has left a big impression on the game’s developers. In a recent interview with The Nerd Stash, Frontier Developments’ James Stant (Dialogue Manager) and Ian Bousher (Lead Narrative Designer) shared glowing praise for the veteran actor’s hands-on involvement and deep connection to the character he’s embodied for more than thirty years.
Expanding on the amusing and oh-so appropriate whimsy voicelines of the game’s opening tutorial, which is designed to really immerse players in an authentic Jurassic Park experience, Stant went on to explain:
… when you’ve got someone like Jeff Goldblum reprising his role, it’s just fantastic that we’ve been able to work closely with our partners at Universal and Jeff himself in the voice sessions to really honor the legacy of the Dr. Ian Malcom character.
It’s something that is obviously really important to us, the Universal, and to Jeff Goldblum. This is a character he’s been familiar with, he’s embodied for over three decades. So it’s a real, real privilege. It’s been fantastic working with Jeff and really helping to finesse his portrayal of the character.
Bousher echoed that admiration, describing Goldblum’s recording sessions as highly creative and engaging.
Jeff’s such a collaborative actor. Every line he will deliver it, and redeliver it, and reinterpret it. It’s always a discussion, and you always come out of a voice session with Jeff feeling so good about the work.
Goldblum’s involvement continues a long-running collaboration between the actor and Frontier, who first worked together on 2018’s Jurassic World Evolution and its 2021 sequel. With Evolution 3, his voice once again anchors the campaign, guiding players through ethical dilemmas around dinosaur breeding and park management.
As Jurassic World Evolution 3 prepares for its October 21 launch, Goldblum’s return as Dr. Malcolm marks a creative partnership that ensures the heart of Jurassic Park still beats inside Frontier’s latest park-building adventure.
