It is always absolutely fantastic to be at the right place at the right time. There’s just something about being part of something that so many people can also witness and feel is special. An influencer and former YouTube star posted to TikTok about a trans wrestling event in Los Angeles, California, that they were judging. However, little did he know that while the wrestlers were performing, one of them would get down on one knee and propose to the other. That must have been wild to see live.
The event, called TBoy Wrestling, focuses on transmasc wrestling and performance art competitions in Los Angeles, California. After reviewing a few of the matches to understand what it’s all about, I can confirm that it’s more of a performance than a wrestling match. However, I’m not sure if I care.
This particular installment of TBoy Wrestling had former YouTuber and influencer Miles McKenna as a judge. Miles is also a trans man who has been popular within the community for nearly a decade, posting to various social platforms and helping build awareness about trans people.
At the event, he was judging one particular match when suddenly, one of the wrestlers got down and proposed to the other. Just as it happens, the entire video changes fast-forward to an entirely different group of wrestlers, with Miles exclaiming, “they just got married!” When he turns the camera, you can see a spotlight on the couple in the wrestling ring, while everyone in the stands is whooping and cheering.
Honestly, the entire video feels as though it comes straight out of some Archive of Our Own fanfiction. In fact, one commentator in particular even said, “Enemies to lovers speed run,” with another saying, “ao3 writers rn โ๏ธโ๏ธโ๏ธโ.” I’ll be severely surprised if I don’t see fan art of these two floating around the internet in the coming weeks.
The actual proposal wasn’t shown, though it’s likely the venue was in on it as the blinds were pulled down to make the room much darker, and photographers were already at the ringside. I absolutely love seeing things like this happen because, realistically, there is a lot of hatred going on in the world right now, and we all really could use just a little bit more love.
