Pranking strangers for content and clout is always risky, especially when breaking the law is involved. One cringeworthy TikToker calling himself a “Famous Comedian” decided to prank a local Indian family-owned restaurant in Sacramento, California. The joke? Pretending to be a food inspector checking on whether the business was up to code. On top of that, he mocked the owner and Indian people in general. What a sad existence to have if your bit is just to make fun of others, and Reddit was quick to call out the TikToker for it.
“Get the cops involved or this idiot will keep doing this nonsense. What he did is illegal and he should face the consequences. Period,” remarks a Reddit user. Another commenter chimed in, saying, “Dude should be reported. Food Inspectors are Federal Employees. Impersonating a Federal Employee is an automatic 3 years in Federal Prison if convicted.” And they aren’t wrong; the official government website for the LA County states that impersonating a public officer is a criminal offense and is guilty of a felony crime.
On top of that, anyone who discovers a culprit impersonating a health inspector is required to report them to the authorities. The California TikToker has since taken down the prank video, but that doesn’t mean the family still can’t press charges for his crime. If that wasn’t enough reason to dislike the kid, the Reddit user who posted the removed TikTok video explained that the troublemaker has since been making racist skits, mocking the restaurant owner and Indian people.
Many people on TikTok have commented in his videos, criticizing him, not only for his behavior with the health inspector impersonation, but also for his other “pranks.” Yet, the issue here is that they’re still giving him what he wants: attention. Until actual consequences or legal action are taken against the boy, he and many others like him will continue making their miserable content.
