A man in Anchorage, Alaska, is being praised online for stepping in to help a woman who was violently attacked in the middle of the road while other drivers simply passed by. According to him, he had witnessed the alarming incident while he was driving his work truck down 4th Avenue to complete his final delivery of the day.
In his TikTok video, the man said that he had seen another man shove a woman into oncoming traffic. Thankfully, she wasn’t hit, but she ended up stranded in the middle of the street as her attacker stood over her, yelling death threats. However, despite the woman trying to fight off her assailant in plain view, not a single driver stopped to help. Traffic did stop momentarily because of what had happened, but people ended up simply driving around them.
He, on the other hand, pulled over his vehicle and went to help the woman. When her attacker saw him coming, they backed away from her, while yelling that she was a snitch and continuing to threaten her life. The man reached the woman and asked if she was okay or needed a ride, but that’s when the aggressor turned his rage toward him instead. The violent man went to his bag and pulled out a large glass bottle filled with alcohol, then came at the witness brandishing the bottle over his head and threatening to kill him without a second thought.
The Story Continues
Standing his ground, the witness tried to calm the situation. “I stood there and I said, โDude, you don’t want to play this game with me. Today might be my time; everyone’s going to die, but it’s going to be a bad day for you,โ” he said. The assailant eventually backed off but continued yelling as he walked away. Afterward, the man called the police to report what had happened. “It was a pretty stressful and crazy situation,” he said. “This lady looked like she’d been beat, if not by him, by someone. But something’s got to be done. This is just absolutely nuts.”
The man also added that he was disheartened not only by the attack itself, but by how many people did nothing to intervene. “If I’d found out later that something happened to this woman and I could have stopped but didn’t, what kind of man does that make me?” he said.
What People Are Saying About the Anchorage Street Incident
The comments under his video were filled with support for his courage and frustration over how indifferent people can be in such moments. “As a fellow Alaskan, thank you for standing your ground and helping her,” one comment read. Another wrote, “Good job sticking up for her!” “I’m glad you stepped in. We need more people like you. Stay safe, brotha,” a third person said. A fourth added, “Very sad how people treat each other nowadays. Thank you for helping her. We need more people like you.๐โค”
Others admitted they might not have intervened directly but still believed calling for help was the right move. “I wouldn’t have intervened myself because of the threat but call the cops,” one viewer commented. Someone else agreed, saying, “I think you did the right thing. Idk if people want to get involved with that kind of thing.” A few also stressed that the safest response would still have been to involve law enforcement immediately. “The right thing to do is call 911,” one user remarked, while another said, “Call 911 and let the police find out what’s going on. Just cause she’s a lady doesn’t mean he didn’t equally need help.”
