Just outside a Walmart in Cicero, Illinois, two uniformed officers identified as ICE agents were filmed questioning a young woman about where she was from and what country she was born in – so quickly that she didn’t even have time to respond. Or maybe she knew better not to.
According to the person who filmed the video, TikTok photographer @mike_kelly_photography, the incident took place around 9:30 a.m. as ICE agents descended on random civilians in the parking lot without a clear target or warrant. The footage specifically shows the young woman being questioned by the two men, but the photographer claimed she was just one of several shoppers stopped during the agents’ morning operation.
“The raid was not focused on specific targets,” the photographer wrote in the caption of his video. “It was not focused on locating individuals with a criminal background. As seen in this video, individuals were stopped purely based off skin color. This is textbook racial profiling, happening daily in Chicago and its surrounding suburbs.”
