It’s very clear to me that many conservatives just don’t want people to have things. Nobody wants to have to be limited to a certain amount of food they can purchase in one month’s time. Nobody wants to have limitations on what they buy. However, conservatives think that people on SNAP are just having fun spending money on food for their families. Going out all willy-nilly and buying things for the fun of it, not because they need it. Now, a California woman is calling out a conservative content creator for her views against people on SNAP.
When @realbritthughes called out people on SNAP, Soogia (@soogia1) wasn’t about to stand for it. Soogia shares a video of Britt, a conservative TikToker, asking, “Is this what food stamps are for?” In her video, she tries to demonize a family walking around and spending $400 on their monthly groceries. I’m not sure why she did this, as it looks like they’re buying a lot of good things to feed their family. But remember: Britt is conservative and thinks that people don’t deserve things. She explains that she doesn’t care that people are losing their food stamps due to the shutdown on November 1. Britt then asks, “How about this instead? If you’re on food stamps, you get a preselected box of meat, bread, rice, food staples, and fruit and vegetables.”
As Britt is saying this, Soogia shows that the family in her video actually did buy all those items. Sure, they also bought some snacks and drinks for their family. But why don’t conservatives want families to buy the things they’ll actually eat? Why do so many of them just want people to suffer with few choices? Soogia points out that Britt only chooses to feature videos of people buying things with SNAP benefits who are black on her TikTok platform. This is clearly a racism thing and it’s pretty disgusting. Soogia goes on to school Britt, “Over 35% of participants in the food stamp program are, you know, white. More than any other racial demographic.”
The fact that there are real people out there complaining about people on food stamps simply trying to eat baffles my mind. One commenter mentioned, “Seeing people so angry about having the ability to EAT is insane to me.” Another person asked, “Why don’t they do videos on wealthy people buying their 5 homes, private jets, and ridiculously expensive bags? Especially the ones who are major welfare kings and queens!” We know that the government pays so much for these lawmakers to survive and eat the very best. Yet, well-paid conservatives are out there judging those who have less than them. It’s clear they need to stay in their own lane because they look like fools.
