Flood waters are no joke, especially in Florida, seeing as the ocean completely borders the state. As a result, during heavy rainfall, flooding is common in many areas of the state. Unfortunately, one Connecticut woman had to find that out for herself firsthand when she found herself trapped inside her car while a torrential storm bore down on her in Boca Raton, Florida. Things got so bad that she needed to leave the vehicle behind and come back for it when things finally settled down.

The above video was posted to TikTok by @amyjulissa520, also known as Amy, and features her inside her car while tears stream down her face. She immediately begins to explain her situation, saying she got trapped in a storm while visiting Florida and that the flood waters rose too high for her to exit her vehicle. She points her camera toward her driver’s side window to show that the water level has risen to within inches of the bottom of her doorframe.

She even briefly explained that she had already called emergency services but is pretty sure they won’t arrive, given how encased her vehicle already is. Despite that thought process, emergency services did arrive, according to an update video she posted after the fact. More specifically, the local fire department came to her rescue.

The comments immediately filled up with replies from Floridians expressing their condolences for her being in that situation. Many other people were laughing at her expense, with some of the top comments saying, “From a Floridian: crying is only going to make the water higher. 🤣” and “florida girlies watching like it’s just another day at the swamp 🤷‍♀.” Being born and raised in Florida, I can attest to the random flood waters that can catch you off guard.

Just before the video ends, the scene changes to what is likely the next morning. Again, Amy is in front of the camera and explains that she safely exited her car during the storm but was forced to leave it behind. While walking toward her car to see if it still turned on, you can see that many other people must have had to do the same, as you can see other vehicles littered on random parts of the street she is walking along. According to the video’s caption, the car was totaled due to water damage.
