It’s not easy being an empathetic person and being around people who voted for Trump. Especially when those people are your own family members and they voted against your own rights, it can feel like a slap in the face. One California man was baffled when his sister called him, upset and asking for financial help. Why? As he claims, he never expected her to need help from him because she voted for Trump and he didn’t.
Jack (@bestofajack06) shared that he received a call from his sister that he wasn’t really expecting. In the phone call, she explained that she needed some money and asked Jack if he could help her. He asked why she needed money and she said “things aren’t working out so well” and she was struggling financially because of that. He points out that she has a Doctorate and he always expected that she could support herself. Apparently, though, his sister was on benefits and because of SNAP not being issued in November, she was in need. Jack pointed out that she voted for Trump so, when it all boils down to it, she kind of voted for all of this to happen to her.
Jack’s sister went on to explain to him that her $275 in benefits “didn’t show up” in November like she was expecting. Jack took this as a way to throw it in his sister’s face a little. He told her, “You voted for this.” He then asked her why she voted for Trump and she couldn’t give him a real answer, just like all Trump supporters he’s met in his life. Their reason was usually something silly like, “I couldn’t vote for Kamala.” But when questioned further, they would have virtually nothing to say to defend themselves.
In the end, Jack hung up on his sister because she could only give religious reasons for her vote. She claimed that Trump loved “Jesus” and that was enough for her to cast her vote for him. Jack invited his TikTok audience to do the same and “hang up on your friends and family” if they voted Republican. He continued on to say, “Go out and help people who need it the most.”
As one commenter explained, “Hate and racism are expensive.” Another said, “She was good with her choice when she thought it would only hurt other people. Bravo to you for standing your ground.” I’m sure you completely understand where Jack is coming from if you deal with family and friends who did the same. Unfortunately, people don’t always think their actions through and vote based on racism, hatred, and lies. You can clearly see where it gets them.
