California Ex-Husband with Restraining Order Gives Son Traceable AirPods During Supervised Visit: ‘Clear Evidence of Danger’

When a protective order and a restraining order have been put on an individual, you know something’s definitely wrong with them. And one ex-husband and father in California most certainly had a history of abuse on his family, not to mention he’s been placed on domestic violence probation, along with a social worker constantly keeping tabs on him. Despite all this, the slimy dad thought he could be sneaky by giving his son AirPods during a supervised visit. He claimed they were “new,” but the son soon found out they were under the father’s Find My network for Apple.

“He said was because he wanted to make sure the right product was in the box,” the concerned ex-wife and mother explained on r/legaladvice. Clearly, making the AirPods traceable was not a mistake, as the father was intentionally trying to track his kids. “There was clear evidence of danger,” the mom firmly stated, elaborating on how this incident wasn’t just a co-parent giving a child a gift, but a convicted individual under a protective order and supervised visit trying to commit a crime.

Needless to say, the California mother spared no quarter to deal with this sneak attack from her ex-husband. She turned over the AirPods to the police, contacted the district attorney involved with the father’s case, and let the social worker that gifts were now restricted. Her post’s top comment couldn’t agree more: “Yep lawyer and police,” the user remarked. To some, her reaction might have seemed excessive. But she’s dealt with this dangerous ex before, as she was told “He’s just a dad who misses his kids!” when he violated temporary restraining order in the past.

Fortunately, the son appeared to be completely on the same page as the mom, as he quickly took screenshots on his phone of all the tracing information from the AirPods. Not wishing to give him anymore stress, the California mom did the right thing and bought him a new pair at Target. To conclude, this story has a good ending, but could have gone terribly wrong had the mom or son not made the discovery of the seemingly harmless “gift.”
